Support African women in prostitution

Women’s rights and Combating violence

In Toulouse, African women represent 62% of sex workers, among which 73% are from Nigeria; and their number increases in a significant way. Weakened by the violence undergone during their migratory route, they arrive in France particularly vulnerable and isolated from social structures supporting migrants.

For 15 years, Grisélidis individually support these women in their administrative procedures: access to citizenship (accommodation, right of asylum), social and professional insertion, and denunciation and protection in case of violence. This support, completed by collective workshops, is based on a community approach - the team and the managing board consist partially of current and former sex workers.

Thanks to this assistance program, 350 women are helped in the denunciation of the undergone violence and the acknowledgment of their rights. Step by step, they gain back self-confidence and, in the longer term, build a professional project and achieve greater autonomy.
