Project presented by En Terre Indigène

Project implemented in France (Overseas Departments and Regions – DROM) :
Promoting the Ecological Ancestral Knowledge of Women from the French Overseas Territories through Community-Based Knowledge-Transfer Workshops

Women in the French Overseas Territories play a crucial role in the fight against climate change through their stewardship of natural resources and the transmission of ancestral ecological knowledge, often within local communities. In response to the impacts of global warming, they develop nature-based solutions that are essential for food security, access to water, and biodiversity conservation, while also addressing gender inequalities.

The project “From Mother to Earth” highlights and preserves this knowledge by organizing workshops led by six expert women who share their practices with vulnerable women and young people in schools. Educational kits and documentary films are produced to ensure the sustainability of this knowledge. A conference and workshops held in mainland France will showcase these women and their practices, contributing to their recognition and the wider dissemination of their expertise.

Use of the Award:
The award will be used to distribute the educational kits free of charge, ensuring the continued transmission of this knowledge. It will also support the organization of a second conference in the Caribbean, aiming to further highlight the role of these women knowledge-holders and raise public awareness.
